Spotted Lanternfly Advisory

Spotted lanternflies are an invasive species that likes to hang around The Delaware Valley. Being in the valley, we have decided to give you some advice to deal with these things.

Adults: these are the little guys you see around now are adults, and they are laying eggs. The best bet for getting rid of these things is to stomp on them or hit them with a blunt object.

Eggs: the eggs come in gray sacs. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the best thing to do with these is do scrape them off the trees where you will find them and throw em’ into a container of rubbing alcohol.

Nymphs: non-adult lanternflies. The proper thing to do is the same thing you do with adults. (Warning: lanternflies can jump up to three feet up from the ground.)

Lanternflies are bad for two reasons: the first is that they eat tree sap, and they like fruit trees and trees of heaven (trees of heaven are the ones that grown in poor soil that look like umbrellas.). The second reason that nothing in America kills them except humans and overactive dogs. You need to kill them because nothing else will do it else effectively. This was a PSA.
